Welcome to Common Ground Food Co-op's weekly (for now) e-newsletter! You're
getting this missive because you're a member of Common Ground who's also
signed up to be on the CGFC mailing list. If you aren't interested in
receiving these updates, please email lisabk at gmail.com.

Every week, via this transmission, members are provided with store
updates/news, links to relevant news items/political actions, and other bits
and pieces worthy of mention. If you have anything of a similar bent you
think members should know about, please email links to lisabk at gmail.com.
Thanks!

STORE/LOCAL NEWS:

****NEW WORKER ORIENTATION:
If you're interested in becoming a CGFC working member, the next worker
orientation has been FIRMLY scheduled for Saturday, 21 January, at the store
at 1 PM. Please call the store at 352-3347 if you have any questions.

****FULL BELLY FORUM: FAIR TRADE COFFEE
Common Ground Food Co-op is proud to announce the debut of its Full Belly
Forums - monthly roundtable discussions about food issues that matter.
January's food issue that matters? Fair trade coffee.

Co-op member Molly Stentz recently returned from a trip to Chiapas, Mexico,
where she visited the coffee cooperatives that Common Ground buys coffee
from. Here's your chance to learn more about coffee… and sample some, too.
Fair trade is an important issue - come find out where your coffee comes
from and why fair trade matters.

The event takes place Monday, January 23, 2006 at 7 PM in the Wisegarver
Lounge in the Illinois Disciples Foundation building at 610 West Springfield
Avenue in Champaign, and is open to the public. For more information, please
call 352-3347.

*****PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
The Champaign Urbana Public Health Department has informed us of an outbreak
of campylobactera bacteria in raw milk at the Gingerich farm in Douglas
county. Common Ground does not purchase or sell milk from this farm, but if
you or someone you know recently purchased milk there and became ill, and
you would like to talk to Public Health about it, they would like to talk to
you. Contact Rachella Thompson at (217) 531-4271 or by email at
rthompson at cuphd.org

BOOKMARK FODDER:

****NOT JUST FOR VEGETARIANS
Close readers will remember the link I posted awhile back for The Meatrix,
an animated video exposing the horros of factory farming:

Well, like any good movie, the sequel is on its way:

*****RANDOM WISDOM:
Several co-op members brought the Dr. Bronner Random Quote Generator website
to my attention:
