Overriding security mechanisms in NDS may not be worthwhile in the long run, especially since NDS seems to be meandering back into active development and may exhibit more such security features in the future.  Does forcing the client to pause a few seconds (via JS embedded into the portal HTML which the client downloads, so that it's client-side) before being forwarded not have any noticeable effect?
