Hi everyone - off and on for the past few months I have been working
on two new documents - an activity that helps design wireless networks
(not just mesh networks), and a set of guidelines for building mesh
networks that take into account the unique way mesh nodes work.

I would love feedback, questions, concerns (and notes about errors!)
on both of these documents. As always, this documentation is Creative
Commons, so you can feel free to re-mix it or let me know how to
improve it.

The first of these is called "Types of Wireless Networks", and you can
find it here:
https://commotionwireless.net/docs/cck/networking/types-of-wireless-netw
orks/
It has a set of introductory examples of traditional modes of wireless
- - Access Points, Clients, Point to Point links, Point to MultiPoint,
Mesh, and so on. It also has a set of flash-card activities you can do
with community members or individuals that are new to community
networking, to discuss different ways to build neighborhood or
town-scale networks. You can download these worksheets in the second
half of the document, the section labeled "group activity".

There is also a set of lessons we have learned over the years of
working with communities to build networks - synthesized in
"Guidelines for Mesh Networks". You can check it out here:
https://commotionwireless.net/docs/cck/networking/guidelines-for-mesh/
It has a set of five guidelines, describes the problems that can be
encountered building mesh networks, and the solutions used to minimize
or solve those problems. There is also a one-page (double-sided)
"handout" that can be used in a workshop setting as well.

Thanks everyone,
- -Andy
