hey kids~
we in Students for Environmental ConcernS were wondering if there would be a
possibility that y'all might be
able to help us throw together a critical mass on friday april 20th. this is
our global warming/energy efficiency
day, and we were thinking that it would be awesome if we could have clean
transportation too. since this is a
friday, it kind of fits into your pattern, even though it's not the last of
the month. also, i don't know if this is
possible or not, but a couple of people suggested that we take a few spins
around the quad before we left... we
already have a guy who will be riding a big wheel around the quad all day, and
we could get mad media
coverage for something like that. we'd help out with mad publicity if you so
desired. if y'all wanted to help
organize this, call me, e-mail me, or drop by our Earth Week committee meeting
thursday @ 8 in the basement
of the University YMCA. and if anybody wants to give ideas for or help out
with any other aspects of the day
or week, please feel free to let me know! the plans for the week should be up
on our web site sometime by the
end of this week: http://www.uiuc.edu/ro/secs
one other thing we were thinking of was having some type of mass exodus to
Springfield to lobby Senators
fitzgerald, and Durbin as long as we were there, on bike to break that whole
"environmentalists driving cars to
lobby for not driving cars" thing, as well as lotsa press. if you guys could
lend some suggestions or a hand, i'd
really appreciate it.
thanks,
~michelle
