Here's one, made with the best of 2 year old technology (LAN on board,
you can software RAID the two drives, cheapo video card, you can cut
the memory in half to save some money, you can probably find a cheaper
case or forego the labor or cut various other corners).

AMD Athlon 1.3GHz OEM $48.00
CPU Fan Dynatron AMD Cpu Cooler $15.00
Motherboards Asus A7V8X-X Mainboard $75.00
Memory DDR PC2100 256MB x4 $200.00
Case Black Evercase\Mid Tower 300W $70.00
Video NVIDIA TNT2 M64 32MB $39.00
Hard Drive Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM ATA133 $69.00
Hard Drive Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM ATA133 $69.00
CD/DVD Recorde Black 52X24X52X/16X CDRW/DVD $85.00
Floppy Drive Black Samsung Floppy Drive $13.00
Labor Build system Bare no O/S $25.00
Extras Case Fan 8CM 4 pin 1 $8.00
Extras ECS 6IN1 INT CARD READER $8.00
SYSTEM SUBTOTAL = $724.00

To get significantly cheaper than this you'll probably want to start
talking about PIII/Celeron and SDRAM or go the compgeeks route of
randomish surplusish systems.
