Hi all,

We'll be working out the exact amount of funding, but obviously this is
one of the most important successes we've ever had as a project! A HUGE
thanks to everyone who helped write (and gave feedback on) the proposal.

The original proposal was for $200,000.

Woo-hoo!

Congratulations--I'm pleased to let you know that OSI Information Program
has chosen the Community Wireless Networking, Phase III proposal for funding
through the Toolsets RFP. Our board members, staff, and expert reviewers
were uniformly impressed with the solutions your team proposed, as well as
with the amount of work that has already been accomplished.

OSI has committed to funding your project, although not necessarily to the
total amount you requested. There are a number of issues we'd like to
discuss with you in the new year that will decide the exact level of funding
we provide; I or one of my colleagues would also like to meet you and your
team in person at some point in the near future, perhaps around the end of
January 2004.

If you have any questions over the next month, please refer them to my
colleague Jonathan Peizer. I will be back in touch with you in early
January to start discussing your proposal in depth and hopefully to plan a
visit to Urbana.

Again, congratulations, and thank you for submitting a fine and worthy
proposal.

Best regards,
Janet Haven
OSI Information Program
