[Cu-wireless] red herring

I think that the Red Herring is a bit far from the
nearest node in Urbana.

It is easy to set up a wireless hotspot. You just
need an internet connection and a $50 wireless
access point from Best Buy (or whatever). The
advantage of joining CU Wireless is that you'd
be able to use their internet connection. But if
you are too far away then you'd have to wait til
there was a node that was close enough. You can
get internet access by buying a DSL line for
something like $30 a month. The university is close,
but they probably won't let you plug into their
internet system. So, there are a variety of ways
to get internet access, and I don't know which
one will work for you.
