Call For Papers
The 4th International Workshop on Community Networks and
Bottom-up-Broadband (CNBuB 2015) is co-located with the in conjunction with
the 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud
(FiCloud 2015) on the 24-26 August 2015.
AIMS AND SCOPE: Community networks are an emergent model for the future
Internet. They emerge from the interplay of technical and social
interactions. Community networks are a timely model for the future
Internet, which fits into the current tendency of seeing technical systems
(e.g. networks, infrastructures, clouds) not as purely technical systems,
but as socio-technical systems.
Originally, community networks were only used as networking infrastructure
to provide Internet access. Furthermore, however, there is an important
opportunity in the provision of unique services within community networks.
Cloud-based services and IoT applications are promising candidates for
applications within community networks, since specifically the citizen
participation can enable innovative applications which are not possible in
other scenarios.
The objective of the International Workshop on Community Networks and
Bottom-up-Broadband (CNBuB) is to bring together researchers and
practitioners working on community networks, and researchers working in
services and applications which may fit into community networks. CNBuB aims
to be a forum for the collection, presentation and discussion of scientific
work on the topics related to community networks.
PARTICIPATION: For participation in the workshop as an author presenting a
paper please refer to the submission instructions. Community network
participants authoring a paper can apply for a financial support (limited
number of grants) for being able to present their work at the workshop.
Please contact the workshop chairs.
PAPERS: The workshop solicits original papers addressing theoretical and
practical challenges of community networks and bottom-up-broadband,
including insights from other disciplines that contribute to the
socio-technical-economic understanding of the community network operation
and growth.
Topics of interest for CNBuB 2015 include, but are not limited to:
Wireless mesh networks
Routing protocols
Services and applications
IoT applications and collaborative scenarios
Fog computing in community networks
Clouds for community networks
Cross-layer designs
Hybrid networks with wireless and optical fibre links
Tools for bootstrapping and running community networks
Interoperation of cloud-based community services
Performance modelling and evaluation
Quality of service provisioning
Quality of experience in community networks
Community network security and privacy
Large-scale management and data collection infrastructures
Ecosystems for community networks
Socio-technical-economic-legal models for community networks
PUBLICATION:
Once accepted, papers will be included into the IEEE conference
proceedings published by IEEE Computer Society Press and will be
accessible via IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
