[Imc-events] Accoustic Music at the IMC

Two great folk shows featuring local artists are coming up in one week
at the IMC: 

Friday June 21st
Joni Laurence, Rory Miller. 8pm. All Ages.

Saturday June 22nd
Sarsparilla, The Hags. 8pm. All Ages.

Joni Laurence's music is everything you already love about acoustic
music... strong vocals, meaningful lyrics and memorable melodies.

Rory Miller is from the Chicago area and plays original accoustic
tunes that defy categorization. Her rhythms are infused with the
energy of Melissa Ferrick and Ani DiFranco but the final product is
all her own.

Sarsparilla is my favorite up and coming accoustic band in
Champaign-Urbana. These three Elizabeths lock into that high and
lonesome sounds of american roots music, including such influences as
Gillian Welch, Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, and John Prine and
it'll makes your spine tingle.

The Hags 
An all women a capella (plus drums) singing group with funky attitude
and a fair shares of silliness and seriousness. Infinite fun. "Worms
shit dirt but they don't eat concrete."

The IMC Folk Music Revival

I know there are folks music fans in Champaign-Urbana who are saddened
by the lack of active folk music venues in town. Lets organize and
create a serious folk music venue out of the IMC. If you are
interested in helping build up the local folk music scene please send
me an email at zcmshows at ucimc.org. I'm especially looking for local
accoustic musicians interested in playing the IMC, local patrons
interested in donating money (or buying premium tickets) to a fund for
covering artists minimum guarantees, and folks willing to help with
publicity. Let me know if you have any ideas!
