This week at the UCIMC (202 S. Broadway Ave. Urbana):

"Playback Theatre" is a workshop that gives youth concrete tools and
practices to imagine, create, explore, and implement life choices that
foster peace, deeper satisfying relationships, and new possibilities for
creating fulfilling lives for themselves. Youth will learn to use improv
theatre, storytelling and related expressive arts to create meaningful
alternatives in speech, thought and action. Admission is $5 for youth 16
years of age and older, FREE for youth 10-15 years of age.

magazines, and local ‘zines!

Workshop open hours and bike sales. Work on your own bicycle repairs /
builds, ask questions, or help out others! Your first visit to our teaching
repair shop is free; after this, membership in The Bike Project is required.
Repaired, ready-to-ride bikes are available for sale to the public at
affordable prices. Bike Project members have the additional choice of our
Build-a-Bike program: wider bike selection, even lower prices, and great
do-it-yourself bike-repair experience.

*Call for Volunteers:*
The IndyMedia & Arts Lab is set to begin July 13th at the IMC! Volunteers
are needed in 2 separate, but related, areas:
- Chef: responsible for preparation of lunch Mon.-Thurs. for
15 youths 12-16 years of age. Lunch will take place at the IMC at noon and
will last approx. an hour. Food, utensils, and serving dishes will be
provided by the Lab. Interested candidate would
transport ready-to-eat meals to IMC at lunchtime. Kitchen
facilities are still to be determined, but am looking within short
radius of IMC.
Modest gas reimbursement available.
- Program assistant(s): help with overall function of program. Duties
may include: supporting instructors during classes, set-up and take-down of
tables, chairs, etc.; supervision of youth during off-site activities.
- Audio/radio instructor: guide participants through general knowledge
of radio production software and hardware. Working knowledge of RFU or
similar low-power radio station is a plus (training will be provided).
Instructor will encourage youths to engage their community through off-site
interviews and sound capturing using field recorders. Instructors provide
tools and guidance, youths provide content.
Youth participants will explore 4 major programming components including:
community gardening, audio/radio production, painting, and instrumentation.
Our days will begin at 9a. and end at 3p. Parents/guardians will be
responsible for their child's arrival to & departure from the IMC. Please
