On this coming Wednesday, August 11th, from 6 – 8 pm in the front hall of the University YMCA on the SW corner of Wright St. and Chalmers (http: www.illinois.edu/goto/ymca), the UI’s “Illinois EV Club” will hold its monthly meeting. Club President Matt Childress will share some inside stories and updates from last month’s Progressive Automotive X-Prize competition, held at Michigan International Speedway. (The competition pitted super fuel-efficient vehicles against each other.) He’ll also elaborate on the presentation he gave at Krannert Center’s recent Pecha Kucha Night, allowing additional time for questions, answers, and discussion from members and guests.

Some additional topics on the agenda include:

- Discussion of the neXt ride (where to go after the X-PRIZE)…
- Status updates on University EV charging stations…
- Champaign-Urbana’s first public green EV charging station…
- And updates from members on ongoing interests and projects…

New members and guests are always welcomed and encouraged! Please help spread the word about our club by forwarding this message to anyone you think might be interested in the club!

Note: Free parking is available (after 5 pm) in the UI lot that's 1 block due west of the YMCA, on the SW corner of Chalmers and Sixth, so that's another option that's available in addition to the on-street, metered parking near the Y. (As long as you don't mind walking that short block on Chalmers after you've parked in the UI lot.)
