cory is a good friend of mine...
i'm part of the hackerspaces movement since 2006, when we founded
metalab in vienna.
in 2007 it pretty much took off when folks like my friend bre founded
nyc resistor in nyc and my friend mitch co-founded noisebridge in san
francisco.
it's good to see that a good old european concept is well florishing
when exported to the usa.
the concept stems back as far as the dutch and german squats in the 1980s...

ah, don't worry... it's all in the flow...
we have 50 members in early 2007, then 10 left, then 20 joined... and
so on and so on. now metalab has 150 members and there is tremendous
stuff happening there...
hackerspaces, as any social groups, have cycles of participation and
withdrawal...

all the best
johannes
