Hello Everyone,
I am currently in the process of organizing this years IndyMedia & Arts
Lab with last year's facilitator, Jason Keist, and we would love to have
more involvement from the U-C IMC working groups/projects...
The 2010 IndyMedia & Arts Lab will take place July 26th - Aug. 5th! The
IMC was awarded over $6000 from the City of Urbana for the second
IndyMedia & Arts Lab as part of the Consolidated Social Service grant.
The Lab will guide youths 13-16 years of age though a series of
workshops, last year focusing on audio/radio production, community
gardening, painting, and instrumentation. This year we hope to have
similar themes, but extend invitations to all of the working groups to
get involved!
The 2 week-long initiative seeks to provide affordable summer activities
that will empower youths to utilize their talents to explore various
outlets of self-expression in a safe, nurturing environment. The
IndyMedia & Arts lab time = TBA (last year 9am-3pm). Lunch is served
to participants. Enrollment is still open, and spots are limited! If
you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.
There are a few ways projects can get invovled:
1) A project could host a workshop every "lab" day. (Monday- Thursday).
Workshop times = 1.5 or 3 hrs. (8 total)
2) A project could host workshops for one lab week = 4)
3) A project could host one or 2 workshops.
4) A project could give a lunch presentation. Presentations are given
during the lunch hour (50 minutes). In the past there have been videos,
discussions on indymedia, youth mobilization, etc.
Please e-mail me as soon as possible if you feel your project might be
interested. Feel free to contact me at anytime with questions.
Thanks,
Katy Vizdal
