[Imc-makerspace] March Membership Meeting [Minutes]

Hey everyone,
I just realized the minutes from our last meeting have been sitting in my
draft folder for a month now. And it's almost time for our next one this
weekend!
Anyway, here they are now.
Attendees: Emily, Erich, Chris, Jeff, Monica, Liz, Edward, James, Brian,
Danielle, Colton
*) Opens

-- Review proposal on current donation methods (Erich, Emily, and Chris)
#) We're now a working group of the IMC; means we rent the space but
we're also an entity of the IMC
#) Any other obligations? Not unless the IMC tells us specifically
#) We do have the option to become our own non-profit entity but
have to deal with our own bookkeeping, etc.
== While there is some interest in breaking off, the group is
still too young for that; revisit at a later time
#) The main issue right now is having regular reports of our money
status
#) Proposal: we open our own Square account and tie it to the IMC
account, mark any incoming money as Makerspace; also consider doing Stripe
for online donations
#) Approval: group has approved this plan; implementation pending on
IMC board approval
#) *Chris will give our proposal* to the IMC board on Monday
following this meeting and update the group
-- Space Expansion into Zine room
#) Put on hold until we have better idea of our financial situation
and associated cost
#) Consider partial rent for the zine room; only pay as we use it
(hourly rent)
*) RFID lock update

-- Tuesdays have turned into another open hours which slows the
progress of the project
-- Consider moving to another night but not yet

-- Eliminate the Digital Divide grant (The Urbana Free Library Edition)
#) Feb. 28: Second 1/2 of the Atari Punk Console kit
#) March 7: Circuit Bending
*) Upcoming/potential events:
-- Eliminate the Digital Divide grant (Bethel Church Edition)
#) Discussion has just been picked up again, more to come
#) Recently received 10 new computers & monitors to be used for this
-- Discotech (Jan/Feb '13 timeframe)
#) no update; might not happen unless someone else picks it up
-- Girls do Science group @ the Orpheum (April 29, 3:45-5:30pm)
#) Still on
#) Gergana and Emily will host ~20 girls between 1-4th grade
