Just got this from Beth Simpson. I'm in town for family medical reasons
(nothing life-or-death), so I'm not sure if I can make it to any of this,
yet. It would be rad if any of us could attend or volunteer. They'll be
holding a zine-making MakerSpace event on Thursday!

(PLEASE FORWARD)

Hi folks,

This AMAZING symposium is happening thursday and friday this week,
including two pretty stunning concerts- and it's all FREE:
http://hiphopandpunkfeminisms.weebly.com/

Please come, and also please consider volunteering- you will get to work
with people you'd give a lung to be around, the shifts aren't long, the
tasks aren't hard, and we need YOU! If you can help, simply email Mimi
Nyugen and tell her what you can do (the needs are listed below):

See you soon!

  Dear all,

I'm writing to you as someone who at one point or another, offered some
help for the Hip Hop and Punk Feminisms conference coming up this
Thursday and Friday, 5-6 December! I'm hoping to coordinate with all of you
about a schedule for tasks, to make sure this conference runs smoothly!
Please sign-up for a shift below, and email ME back: mimin at illinois.edu

*THURSDAY*
*MORNING SET-UP:* Show up at 8:30 at the Asian American Cultural Center to
help set-up the continental breakfast, arrange the room for audience and
panelists, help test the A/V, and pass out name badges. I NEED 3 VOLUNTEERS.

*AFTERNOON BREAKDOWN: *Show up at 4:30 at the Asian American Cultural
Center to help put the room back (yes, we have to do this in order for the
activities in the Center that evening, even though we'll be back in the
morning), clean up, et cetera. I NEED 2 VOLUNTEERS.

*EVENING SET-UP: *Show up at 7PM at Lincoln Hall Auditorium. We are not
certain what tasks lie ahead this night for the hip hop show, besides
loading in the DJ equipment (which is quite a lot already) and testing out
the tech, but it would be great if you could show up and help out! There
will be theater staff present to help out as well. I NEED 3 VOLUNTEERS.

*EVENING BREAKDOWN: *Show up at 11:15 at Lincoln Hall Auditorium to help
clear out the DJ equipment, et cetera. If you're staying for the whole
show, you could help at both ends! I NEED 3 VOLUNTEERS.

*FRIDAY*

help set-up the continental breakfast, arrange the room for audience and
panelists, help test the A/V, and pass out name badges. I NEED 3 VOLUNTEERS.

*EVENING SET-UP: *Show up at 7PM at Lincoln Hall Auditorium. We are not
certain what tasks lie ahead this night for this show, besides helping to
load in the musical equipment and test the tech, but it would be great if
you could show up at help out! I NEED 3 VOLUNTEERS.

*TWITTER:* If you are planning on attending the conference, and on taking
notes, why not live-tweet for us? If you are interested in live-tweeting
the conference for us, please let me know -- I will give you access to the
HHPF twitter account.

*LIVESTREAM:* We will try to live stream (and record) the conference and
shows. If you have any experience with this, let me know! I could use the
help.

*GENERAL:* We would also love to have volunteers around for general
purposes! If you're attending the conference, and are willing to be "on
call," just let one of the organizers know; if you're interested in helping
out in the Makerspace downstairs, let Susan Livingston know.

Thanks so much for your interest and support!

Best,
Mimi
