On March 9th, from 11am-10pm, if you have an hour to spare, please consider
volunteering with Share-a-Meal - it's an easy and fun and can garner some
donations for the IMC, too!

The event is organized by Community Shares, a collective organization that
represents over 70 charitable organizations in the state of Illinois
(including the MC). Community Shares organizes various campaigns on behalf
of member organizations, among them Share a Meal and several workplace
giving campaigns.

Share-a-Meal is a fundraising event where local restaurants agree to give a
portion of their profits from that day (March 9th) to Community Shares .
Restaurants give between 25-50% of lunch, dinner, or both. Diners can elect
to give to one charity of their choice, like the UCIMC, or to give to
Community Shares as a whole.

Volunteers are needed to spend an hour or two at either Black Dog in Urbana
or Siam Terrace, also in Urbana, and explain the event to restaurant
patrons. You'll greet patrons on their way in, give them information about
the event as well as pledge cards and answer questions. I can give a quick
training for potential questions and answers you'll need to know, but it's
pretty simple.

Sign up in groups of two! You can keep each other company when things are
quiet and make sure that everyone gets greeted when things are busy. If
you're interested, email me with the hours you will be available. I'll get
you all the necessary information about the event.

Even if you aren't able to to volunteer, make sure to dine out that day and
designate your contribution to the IMC!

Participating restaurants in Champaign-Urbana include:

· Luna - 116 N. Chestnut, Champaign (lunch)

· Siam Terrace - 212 W. Main St., Urbana (dinner)

· Great Impasta - 156 C Lincoln Square, Urbana (lunch & dinner)

· Black Dog Smoke & Ale House - 201 N. Broadway Avenue, Urbana (lunch
& dinner)

Thanks!!
