407 S. Goodwin ? on the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana Campus.

Illinois’ Republican governor made history when he declared a moratorium on
executions after the thirteenth innocent person was released from Illinois’
death row. With the release of the Report of the Governor’s Commission on
Capital Punishment in April 2002, the future of the death penalty is being
strongly debated throughout the state. Citizens continue to support the
moratorium on executions. Many in Illinois are looking for more humane
alternatives to the death penalty that ensure public safety but do not risk
the execution of an innocent person.
