COMMUNITY MEDIA WORKSHOP'S eNOTES - January 7, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Chicago's CAN-TV Channel 21. . .

* UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE BY 2007? *
featured Saturday, January 8, 8 p.m. on Community, Media & You

Nearly one third of the population under 65 now lack health insurance in
Illinois. Uninsured people are postponing needed care, living with more
health problems, and dying at younger ages than those with insurance.
Health care activists are urging Gov. Blagojevich to carry out the Health
Care Justice Act. This act would create a task force to recommend ways for
the state to provide Universal Health Care by 2007. Carmen Velasquez with
the Alivio Medical Center, Ray Wang with Chicago Cook County Community
Health Council, and Robyn Gabel from Illinois Maternal and Child Health
Coalition discuss the state of health care in Illinois with host Thom
Clark.

over a CHEEZBORGER at the Goat is just what you need. First Friday Burger
Nights are also scheduled for Feb 4, March 4 and April 1. Admission is
free; no reservations required.

* HOW TO BE A SMART MEDIA CONSUMER *
Wednesday, January 12, 6 p.m.

Studs Terkel Award winner Laura Washington will join panelists Steve
Edwards of WBEZ, Michael Miner of the Chicago Reader, Dan Sinker of Punk
Planet and moderator Alan Gitelson of Loyola to discuss the current media
landscape, including reporting on politics and cultures, the consolidation
