        YOUR VOICE MATTERS: A COMMUNITY FORUM ON WOMEN AND VOTING

Champaign, IL – On Thursday, October 21, 2004, at 7:00 p.m., the Student 
Leadership Panel of the YWCA of the University of Illinois will host "Your 
Voice Matters: A Community Forum on Women and Voting." Speakers include 
local city council members, candidates running for office and a 
representative from the League of Women Voters of Illinois.

"Your Voice Matters" will provide a unique non-partisan opportunity for 
women to come together, hear first hand about how to become involved 
politically by voting, volunteering, and running for office. Audience 
members will listen to City Councilwomen’s remarks on how to run and win. 
Those in attendance will then have the opportunity to participate in small 
group discussions with other young women from Champaign-Urbana and the 
University of Illinois, as well as meet women in politics and talk to them 
about their experiences.

There will also be discussion of important voting issues regarding the 
November election.
