[Imc-tech] new computator in the production room

the new computer in the production is raring to go. it can be used to do
some audio editing. a portable minidisc is hooked up to it (do not remove
this minidisc!). all inputs are analog to the computer, but other than
that, it should be decent to work with.

files which need to be burned to cd can be sent from Fred (the new
computer) to Sergei via network neighborhood, into a file called
cdburnfiles. Please note: the files in this folder (cdburnfiles) will be
deleted every week. this is to save space on sergei. it is assumed that
they were in the folder because they were being burned to a cd, and thus
don't need to be on sergei any more. it is better if you delete your own
files. just don't complain when they get deleted by someone else.
consider yerselves warned!

also, IMC-current audio projects will be renamed to IMC-current. The
reason for this is that the new computer (Fred) cannot recognize folder
names longer than 12 characters (thus IMC-current audio projects was too
long, and contains spaces, which is also not recognized). Here's what
will happen in the future. I've created a file called IMC-current. Use
this folder from now on in order to save files on sergei (which are still
being worked on for current imc projects, obviously). Within a month, all
files in the imc-current audio projects will be deleted (and backed-up, of
course). for a time, sergei will act as a file server, until a dedicated
file server can be put in place. please note: files edited on sergei
should be saved on sergei, files edited on fred should be saved on fred.
unless folks want to buy me a new hard drive for storage space, things
will have to be this way. the audio drive M: is almost full again on
sergei (primarily because folks are not deleting their files when they
finish, and i don't know which files are finished, and so am afraid to
remove them for fear of messing up someone's project).

anyways, questions? ask away.

brian
