[Imc-tech] missing meeting

I will not make the Tech meeting this Wednesday because of a business
trip. I was really looking forward to it, too. =(
Here is the status of the server: I've got it set up to get its IP address
by DHCP; that is probably not a permanent solution. I have turned off
many non-essential services with, uh, update-rc.d? I forget the name of
the program.
Thank you, Zach, for your help.
I would have liked to have installed OpenSSH (client & server), but it's
not on the 3-CD set for Debian (!!!). I'd downloaded the OpenSSH source
before I quit. It's probably in ~root/. The way that I prefer to install
things that I cannot install from a package (.rpm or .deb) is using a
program called "encap" that comes from a department of the University.
If you search with Google, you are certain to find it.
I was able to install Samba; I do not know how to set it up. Netatalk
might be on the CDs, but I did not install it. I have set up Netatalk
before; so has Zach. It's not too hard except the documentation lies
and/or the program is buggy as all get-out.
The earliest I will get back to work on the server is Saturday afternoon.
It will be later than that if my eyes are as sore then as they are now.
*ache* *ache*
