Would it make a difference to send by a private carrier like UPS or DHL?
I know that many int'l video activists recommend using those carriers to
get their tapes out of various countries rather than using mail or going
through customs with them.

Sorry to chime in last minute, but I wouldnt send any equipment to 
Guatemala, unless someone is physically handing it to her. It will
probably 
be caught in customs (if it even turns up), and then she'll have to pay
a 
fee for it. I know that sometimes sending equipment to places like Costa

Rica and Argentina costs more to pick it up from customs then the actual

piece of equipment. I was in guatemala, and the mail system is pretty 
unreliable if it is anything but a postcard... (especially if she is
outside 
a major city)
