Indeed, I tried to use them before realizing they weren't implemented
in the existing version, and then I figured that
pain-in-upgrading-to-get-feature-x > pain-in-living-without-feature-x :)

If it's easy to do, and doesn't break anyone's existing databases.  (I
know little of mysql, as postgres is my free db of choice.)
