Dan Lewart is my hero.

I'm not sure we get soo much traffic that the efficiency drag of the
comment count would be so bad. I'd say just turn it on and then if we
get complaints of the lag sucking a lot (for instance if we get a
really popular feature on the national newswire) it's one of the
things we can turn off to address that.
