[UCIMC-Tech] Big, Phat Spam Target: Shutting Down IMC-Paypal List

I could be that I missed the notices or it could be that something else
was going on. Either way, this morning I got the first notification I
remember seeing since last Saturday for moderating 463 messages held up
in the IMC-Paypal list. Not a single one was a legitimate notice of a
payment received. This is very typical of the traffic the list receives,
i.e. nothing of relevance.

In fact, it has been some time since I noticed ANY legitimate traffic on
this list. I know that we do still receive Paypal payments, since we
talk about them on a regular basis in Finance meetings. If the
notification for legitimate Paypal transactions if going somewhere else
and no one has botehred telling me, that's cool, but I don't see the
need to continue with this regular morning mess.

I want to propose shutting down the IMC-Paypal list. It is no longer a
productive use of my limited time to sort through hundreds of phishing
schemes. I don't think I can shut it down myself. I presume we want to
preserve the archive of past traffic.

Unless someone speaks up in the next 24 hours with a valid reason to
keep this list up, I request that the list be shut down as of Friday,
Oct. 24 and no longer accept any traffic. There's no point in continuing
to waste electrons on this effort, let alone my time.
