Hi everyone,

I've been engaging in a project for a while now to migrate the email and
listserv services off of the aging imsahp box onto a new server, mccoy,
also housed at the IMC. This project will yield greater performance and
stability as well as greatly expanded capabilities, including:

-IMAP as well as POP3 service, both including SSL.
-Webmail
-SMTP (outgoing server) capability with SSL and authentication
-Mailman interface over SSL
-Better spam and virus filtering
-Virtual domain handling (an email account for someperson at chambana.net
doesn't also work for someperson at ucimc.org, someperson at anti-war.net,
someperson at thebikeproject.org, automatically, etc.)
-Use of a directory backend that will allow eventual integration with
other Chambana.net/IMC websites and services.

Shell access will be initially restricted on the new server, though
we'll be evaluating secure options to accommodate those users who use
pine or mutt for which I'll appreciate input. If anyone uses that for
their sole email access, let me know and we'll accommodate you
immediately. Also, if people experience problems with the new system or
find aliases that they used before not working correctly, let me know. I
hope to perform the migration this Friday, 1/17/09. There are no plans
to take down imsahp anytime soon, so it will remain up and functional
for those who utilize it. Thanks for your time, and I apologize for any
inconvenience.
