so i finally got pissed enough to investigate the problem of not being
able to edit our info docs on our website.

FYI: i've commented out the 47th line of the following file:
/extra0/var/www/ucimc-dada/imc_classes/imc_Info.inc

i'm not sure if this has unforeseen negative effects, so could someone who
is actually a programmer double-check this fix.
