After a brief and non-contentious discussion, the Steering group 
approved the deletion of Jack Ryan postings for a trail period of a 
month. This policy will be revisted the Steering group meeting after 
next (Dec. 16), both to assess its effectiveness and because the usual 
group of spokes who don't show up at Steering group meetings did not 
have a chance to chime in with their opinions.

That said, everything I've heard from people, both onlist and in several 
PMs to me, supported this decision. It also applies to any posts that 
are obviously Jack but under different names. H ehas occassionaly done 
this in the past and might be expected to try that again. We should use 
discretion, but in the wake of his banning any deluge of posts by new 
folks that sound a lot like Jack are probably Jack.

There was a brief discussion about posting a notice to the Newswire 
about this, but it was concluded this would only further egg him on, so 
the only notice is here and in the Steering minutes for tonight.
