fellow IMC audio producers:
i have high hopes for an increase in tightness of content, in overall
audio quality, and in editing capabilities, thanks to the advent of Brian
Hagy's beloved A/V workstation, named SERGEI, which lives in the
production room at the IMC.
i would LOVE to help people realize their broadcast-quality dreams by
donating my audio-engineer ears and digital audio editing experience to
your project. i'm concerned (and i'm sure Brian is too) that there's
going to be an ugly deadline-crunch TRAFFIC JAM around SERGEI come Monday,
--just like there was last week--since the IMC Radio Hour last-minute
panic-button deadline is Monday 5 PM.
could all y'all who are working on something they expect to air on MONDAY,
the 29th of JANUARY, at 6 PM, on WEFT, please send me an e-mail or give me
a call, like ASAP? i'd like to HELP you organize your mini-disc
labelling, start-ID/TOC (TOC="table of contents"), and editing process, if
you need my help. i'd like to HELP you rescue any noisy low-level audio
you might have that's got crucial info on it, if you have that on hand.
i'd like to HELP you turn a batch of sound-bites into a cohesive report,
if that's your goal. i'd like to help you record voice-overs, if that's
something your project needs. in short, i love audio, and i wanna put as
much time as i can spare into making the IMC Radio Hour sound as
professional as <Democracy Now!> on an absolute-zero-dollar budget. call
me crazy, but that's what i want.
also, i want help make the air-shifter's job that hour as EASY EASY EASY
as possible.
we are JUST NOW starting to develop an IMC technical training procedure,
so give a shout-out, or check in with me, if this is something you want.
also, i will do my best to help you co-ordinate with the owners of various
equipment (mini-disc recorders, microphones, and of course SERGEI), until
the space/production room committee comes up with a "unified IMC policy"
so that potential equipment donors can reliably put their gear into the
hands of actual IMC news-gatherers. but, please PLEASE be patient with
those of us who are busting butt to get this donor/user connection up and
running.
hope to hear from y'all soon.
your fellow IMC-ista,
paulkotheimer:)
