About the Illinois Student Environmental Network:
The Illinois Student Environmental Network is a 7-year-old statewide
training and educational organization training and educating
activists across Illinois passionate about protecting the environment
for future generations. ISEN's staff of professionally-trained
trainers work to bring valuable leadership- and campaign-building
skills to 117 student groups on over 90 Illinois campuses and a host
of community groups working for a better world. The training,
educational, networking, and outreach programs ISEN coordinates,
organizes, educates, and empowers nearly 3,000 Illinoisans to take
action on critical environmental and social justice issues.
ISEN's Environmental Activist Skills Training Program (EAST) helps
those passionate about environmental protection and social change
develop well-organized strategies and formulate strong and meaningful
campaigns, enhances communication and information-sharing between
students and organizations, and provides hands-on, site-specific
assistance and training to grassroots activists. ISEN provides
activists with the hands-on assistance, tools, organizing, outreach,
media, political expertise, and public education skills and training
they need to be effective advocates for critical environmental and
social justice issues.
About Communiversity:
The University YMCA's Communiversity Program is a series of
non-graded, non-credit classes offered to the general public. Classes
are taught by individuals with special skills or interests they want
to share with others. Communiversity serves as a link between the
instructors and you, the person who wants to learn in a relaxed,
low-pressure environment. In the midst of a major university,
Communiversity provides a variety of learning experiences that are
both refreshing and fulfilling.
Please forward this message to anyone interested in becoming an
effective social change activist!
