It's an Indy Publishing and Bookmaking Weekend at the IMC, featuring a
visit from the Bookmobile Project.
The Bookmobile is a 25-ft long vintage airstream trailer chock full of
zines, artists' books, handmade books, journals and other indie
publications. It'll be parked on Main St. in front of the IMC Friday and
Saturday.
In concert with the Bookmobile visit we have lots of cool events lined up
for you! You're especially invited to participate in the workshops and
discussions on Saturday. If you've ever dreamed of making your own zine,
book or journal this is your opportunity to find out more and take your
first step.
The Bookmobile is a non-profit project traveling across North America, and
so we're asking that you donate some money ($1 - $1000) to the project to
help keep it going and to say "thanks" for stopping through Urbana (hey,
they're coming here INSTEAD of Chicago, because so many interested people
from Urbana contacted them!) There will be a donation box set up at the
IMC, or you can give your donation to Paul Riismandel or Sarah Kanouse
who've coordinated the weekend.
Here's the schedule of events:
Friday

Barnstorming Tour across North America

Independent Artist"
9:00 PM - Mirah (from K Records ) Performs [$5 suggested donation]-- Mirah

coherent, compelling and seductive vision, with her cool voice and nothing
more than an understated guitar or even just some muted drum.

display their wares inside the IMC
11:00 AM - 'Zine Making Workshop - three local zinemakers will guide you

Michael (Innocent Words).
1:00 PM - Book Making Workshop - facilitated by the Bookmobile volunteers
