Gay Panic:

"[The] 'gay panic' defense [is] built on a theory that a person with
latent gay tendencies will have an uncontrollable, violent reaction
when propositioned by a homosexual."

Democratic Panic:

The rationale that a society with latent democratic tendencies will
have an uncontrollable, repressive, violent reaction when presented
with viable alternatives to social darwinism, patriarchy, and
capitalism.
