Hiya.

These are some alternate lyrics to be sung to the tune of
"Que Sera Sera" (what will be, will be) usually sung by Doris Day.
If some people with musical instruments and singing voices want to
sing it, please do!

When I was just a little girl
Investors lent money to our elites!
    Their profits from exports
    Made with our cheap labor
    Oh! The returns, so sweet...

    Que sera, sera!
Be thankful you HAVE a job
If wages rise, we'll move on!
    Que sera, sera...

As I grew up, exports fell off
We asked the bankers, What shall we do?
    Should we print money?
    Leverage funds?
    Those loans are coming due

    Que sera, sera!
You must pay the money back
Keep our profits in the black!
    Que sera, sera...

They said to raise the interest rates
To lure back investors, living abroad
    Now we're deep in recession
    Employment is down
    The usual IMF fraud

    Que sera, sera!
    Whatever will be, will be
    Just prop up your currency!
    Que sera, sera...

    Government spending was cut back
No funding for health care, pennies for schools!
    The money diverted
    To loan repayments
    Under the IMF rules

    Que sera, sera!
    Whatever will be, will be
    It's fiscal austerity!
    Que sera, sera...

    National assets were sold off
At fire sale prices! To foreign firms
    They capture the market
    Yet decline to share
    All on the IMF terms

    Que sera, sera!
    Whatever will be, will be
    It's market efficiency!
    Que sera, sera...

So 'round and 'round, the cycle goes
    Leveraged credit and capital flight
    While taxpayers guarantee
    Corporate risk
    Who hears the workers' plight?

    Que sera, sera!
    Extreme inequality!
    It's the new economy!
Que sera, sera... que sera, sera!

Good luck and a happy time in Washington, y'all.

	Maiko Covington
