Sentences like that one pretty much demonstrate how much homophobic imagery 
is based on homoeroticism (ie -- the homophobic fantasy of policing others' 
sexuality is a sexual fantasy).

The boy scout uniform was designed by Sears-Roebuck for their catalogs in 
the early part of the 20th century.  These are the same catalogs about which 
the government said:  "We can be thankful that with the Sears-Roebuck 
catalog has come a national standard for the adequate clothing of children 
throughout the country."  (not a direct quote)
