alleged autumn

the alleged early september
full moon is allegedly waning,
allegedly falling behind
(or allegedly gaining
on, can you remember?)
this rushed alleged sun,
who no longer allegedly
hovers in the alleged treetops,
will allegedly not linger
for us: our allegedly grilled hot
dog meals, our alleged sunned slumber,
our alleged evening afternoons,
our alleged languor.

death allegedly telegraphs itself
through alleged stems, the leaves
allegedly a dry brown allegedly like muffins;
allegedly, alleged plastic skeletons line
an alleged drug store shelf.

allegedly, my own alleged life turns
on this alleged season, the first
day of first grade it allegedly rained
on this alleged brick street, and
this alleged park; my alleged tenth birthday
allegedly around the corner; up the alleged IC
my alleged newborn sister came home
allegedly just shy of winter,
an alleged light November snow.
