An extensive epidemiological study has found Gulf War veterans are 2x more 
likely to develop ALS than control groups.  The VA has officially announced 
its intention to provide special benefits to Gulf War veterans in light of 
this finding.

This is a dramatic development in the history of Gulf War Syndrome because 
it is the first officially-recognized link between the Gulf War and any 
specific disease.
