[Newspoetry] Green Candidate for Mayor of Urbana

As one of the many who has found Tod Satterthwaite's red-baiting efforts
to build his own little machine of yes-people to be the antithesis of
what Urbana politics is all about, I urge you to consider a vote for
Alfred Weiss. He has registered as a write-in candidate for Mayor of
Urbana.

There is little doubt that Mayor Tod will probably be re-elected, but he
should get a strong message to clean up his act and learn to work with
the representatives of what should be an even more progressive city
council after the April 3rd election. The easiest way to do that is to
vote for Mr. Weiss. His values far better represent Urbana's values than
Tod's radical swing to right-wing values. Tod wants you to vote for him
so we can have development at any cost (especially if he can convert
public investment to private profit) and cut taxes (and undercut the
quality of life that caused many of us to live on the Urbana side of
Wright St..) Tod is seeking to impose a standard that judges the quality
of life in Urbana by purely economic standards.
