beginning

RESOLUTION

San Francisco
sitting by the bay
one of the finest cities
in the world today

but take a stroll
down Market Street
hear a drummer
to a different beat

from Montgomery
clear down to Van Ness
a vacuum
of humanity in regress

overshadowing
the beautiful architect
only on a postcard
could one forget

frustrating 
that the well to do complain
offering no solutions
always someone to blame

barring the big quake
the homeless are there to stay
an institution
and some like it that way

put away the incoherent
because they need help 
not politically correct
but I could not help myself

and those who remain
give them uniforms to wear
and give each an area to clean
since they are already there

drinking and loitering
would be a gross violation
of a worker's responsibility
to maintain his/her workstation

to separate those who can
from those who need
and allow government
to allocate resources appropriately

now for a moment  
try to reflect
a San Francisco
to match its beautiful architect
