George W. Bush Declares War

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Associated Poets):  In what is being seen as an 
eleventh-hour bid to secure republican control of congress in 
tomorrow's mid-term election, George W. Bush has declared war on the 
economy.

The approach appears to be working.  "I'm very concerned about the 
economy," said Bill Smirphanorblepnipznif-Jones, a longtime 
democract, "and it appears that George W. Bush and the republican 
party are finally doing something about it."  Mr. 
Smirphanorblezxpnipznif-Jones said he had been planning on voting for 
the democratic candidates in his district, but is now undecided.

For their part, democrats have been quick to fall in line behind 
Bush's delcaration of war, convening a special 11 PM session of 
congress tonight to grant the president broad and unprecedented 
powers to strike banks, brokerages, accounting firms and consumers if 
they are suspected of harming the economy.
