NEW YORK (Associated Poets): Newspoetry (APTS -- Research /
Estimates) was up one poem to 3 in early trading this morning,
bolstered by today's midterm election. But the stock is still near
its all-time low. Newspoetry EWC Joe Futrelle cites "busy-ness"
reasons that Newspoetry production is down, but critics charge the
company for not taking advantage of numerous opportunities, such as
Paul Wellstone's death and the election results in Turkey. Some
analysts see even more cause for concern in the fact that several of
the recent poems were written by Futrelle himself, under the auspices
of an offshore limited partnership, a business arrangement that in
recent times has fallen into disfavor among investors and aesthetes.
Nevertheless, Futrelle advised Newspoetry investors in his weekly
conference call that Newspoetry production will hold steady at one
poem a day for the next quarter. Investors have responded coolly,
investing a grand total of $0 in the company this quarter, unchanged
from $0 last quarter.
