[Newspoetry] Book of Life and its Movie

I've read the book of my life,
and it was pretty dull stuff,
no dialogue, little scenery,
no big action scenes of drama,
no comedic relief was needed,
no fantastic figures of evil,
no dazzling beauties of romance,
just lots of little things,
the smallest and the least,
and closets full of words,
many broken and worn-out,
some of them still in wrappers,
waiting to be used sensibly,
or wantonly, if appropriate.

I guess I'll wait for the movie;
maybe the character who plays me
will do a better job of it than I,
and appear larger than (my) life,
when he is up on the silver screen --
Kevin Smalley or Nicolas Cage,
or, if they jazz it up, Tom Hanks --
but go see it on opening night,
it won't stay in theaters long,
critical success, box office bust.
