[Newspoetry] In the fall of the year

In the fall of the year,
in the fall of the year,
I took my darling dear,
down in the vast valley,
down in the deepest dale,
there to fish for walleye
where we did love and dwell
in the fall of the year.

The cabin was set snug,
amid fall's leafy rug,
where we played our hug-hug,
and rolled in feather sack,
below frosting's attack
on the roof of our shack,
on the roof of our shack.

The fish were scant and few,
our food became bean stew,
so we gassed lots, we two,
and laughed at our own sound,
passing the beans around,
shedding our clothes, unwound,
shedding our clothes, unwound.

Fishing was fair excuse,
for being there recluse,
away from working use,
in the fall of the year,
before winter's cold drear
iced frozen our good cheer,
falling to freezing near.

In the snow of the year,
in the snow of the year,
we packed up all our gear,
and came away from there,
going home to nowhere,
the place of work and care,
the place of work and care.
