[Newspoetry] The argument of me

Universal argument says

The undertones of a hurt

Coming as violence of me,

Against a violence of you.

 

I am not that me, nor you,

I am a pair listening ears,

A mouth, yawning in reply,

To feeling and a thinking.

Imagining itself nakedly,

Nestled in a forgetful jungle,

Knowing no name nor word,

But empty truths of beasts.

 

He said last night, yearning,

Pining for a love she wields,

And will not yield him ever,

I shall drink myself silly,

Numb my flesh, my heart,

Still my life in a bottle,

As a world goes on to die.

 

I glanced up at the CNN,

Saw faces and figures dead,

Maimed, unsheltered, lost,

And wondered for awhile,

Where was greater tragedy,

In him or them so far away,

And why such violence comes,

Of being only me or you,

And not of being all of us.
