If Inches Equalled Years

Three cubits into the second millennium
The Pope who presided over the Great Schism
Died.  Forty seven and a half cubits later
Joan of Arc was beatified
Five and a third cubits
Before Ratzinger became Benedict.

The Palestine Uprising
And Warsaw Uprising
Both occurred on this date
Seven years apart
Creating a day both Jews and Muslims remember
But not easily divisible by cubits
Perhaps because they only coincide
If one uses the Christian calendar.

In America, the great battle
At Lexington and Concord
Occurred two hundred eighteen
Or two hundred twenty years prior
To Waco or Oklahoma City – depending –
Neither easily divisible either,
Proving once and for all perhaps
We aren't a Christian nation.
