Urbana:

1.

A 91-year-old woman reported theft at the 500 block of East Washington,
Monday night.

An unknown offender stole a jar of quarters from the woman’s residence
some time in the last two months

No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

2.

A 14-year-old boy reported theft and an abandoned bicycle at the 1900
block of North Cunningham Avenue, Tuesday morning.

An unknown offender took the boy’s bike and left another bike in its place.

No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

Japan:

Police say envelopes containing 10,000 yen -- about C$85 -- and notes
wishing the finders well have been discovered recently in municipal
toilets across Japan.

Local media estimate more than $17,000 in cash has been found at men's
rooms in the city halls of at least 15 districts over the past few weeks.

Each package of 10,000-yen bills, some wrapped in traditional Japanese
washi paper, was accompanied by a handwritten letter that read "Please
make use of this money for your self-enrichment," according to reports.

Another directive -- "One per person" -- was also reportedly included in
the packages.

Officials are baffled over the identity of the benefactor and the motive.

Packages turned over to police were to be kept for a time in case someone
claimed them, the officials added.
