*Bush Will Temporarily Hand Reins To Cheney **President to Undergo
Anesthesia for Exam ***(By Peter Baker, The Washington Post)

When Bush sleeps at night, does night-howl Cheney take over?

In truth, Bush has been lacking in consciousness all of his life.

So, this is event is staged to suggest that Bush is capable of regaining
consciousness, while in fact he has none to lose and thus none to regain.

What causes Bush (well, Rove) to think that having someone else's head up
Bush's ass, other than his own, matters to anyone in the world?

Well, for one thing, does Cheney want to be the officially acting President,
as opposed to the officially prosthetic puppeteer for preppy puppy Bush?

What other news did we need distraction from?

Consider these recent leaks from Cheney's secret energy policy planning.

These sessions were séances -- attempts to contact the spirit of capitalism
world. Cheney has heard that where ghosts haunt, energy fluctuations occur
-- temperatures shift as spirits pop in and out of material existence. So,
Cheney imagined that ghost ownership, and ghost production, could prove to
be a major untapped dimension of energy wealth. He was heard to exclaim,
"The spectral field has greater potential than the vast oil reserves of
Middle East. We just have to be energy leaders. And that means that we
have to be adding to our existing ghost reserves, right now, and yet making
more ghosts, at faster rates than the commies or the muzzies.

"The terrorists already know that the only good follower is a dead follower
-- that's why their people are so happy to die for their cause. Americans
have forgotten that it is good and sweet to die for their country. The
patriot and Nathan Hale said 'I regret that I have but one life to give for
my country.' This led his fellow patriot Tom Paine to say 'Now is the time
for every good man to die for his country!'

"Ancient truths such as these emphasize the need for fresh blood of patriots
to be spilt regularly upon the altar of liberty. The oldest Americans,
Aztecs and Mayas and Incas, all knew this: they freely slaughtered their
foes as well as their own children. Such seemingly fell deeds made those
nations the most powerful on earth, in their ages -- rulers need ghosts."

Or, perhaps, Cheney is not to blame for where Bush puts his head. Bush has
been dodging standards all week. If he were a student, we'd say he failed
his mid-terms on Iraq last week. Bush then started saying, "The questions
on the exam were not relevant ones," complaining about the test, by denying
it had any validity. And, audacious as he is, he then also proposed doing
nothing before the final exam in September. The next morning, though, Bush
announced that he would take the exam in November, than in September, while
still disparaging the exam as meaningless, anyway.

If National Security were subject to "No Child Left Behind" standards, law
would give Americans money to find a better president than Bush to lead
them. They could buy a better leader in the private sector, perhaps.
Perhaps they could find a used leader, with a lot of miles left on him --
second-hand leadership is all they get out of Bush-Cheney, anyway.
