The Bush Legacy per Pelosi

What is it that Bush has done, in the eyes of history?

The present moment is stretched between times.

The past that we think we know is one of those.

The past never alters.

The yet-to-be is simply a blank account of a void, nothing,

Or an infinite reserve, drawing on deposits from yesterday.

Our present withdrawals may deplete its funds.

Whatever we do, it will haunt us tomorrow.

The ghosting can not be escaped;

Nor is ignorant inattention acceptable.

We've all seen bullies on the playground.

They find someone to target and to attack,

Someone who is different, possibly unpopular --

Someone to depict as inferior, dehumanized.

That is the Bush that History may come to see.

The man was vain and yet felt inferior, unaccomplished.

The man felt, desperately, the need to dominate others.

The man had no compassion for those he ground under his wheels.

The man was a clown and a fool, self proud beyond all reason.

The man loved the trappings of wealth and power,

as substitute symbols, signs of accomplishments.

The man prized action above information,

preferring even to act ignorantly, rashly,

rather than prudently, patiently planning policies and programs.

These are the psychological profile of the Bully.

We've seen its like in history many times.

Perhaps, most of all, that is why he hated Hussein,

For Saddam and his sons were Arabic mirror images

Of the senior Bush and his sons, George and Jeb and Neil and Marvin.

Marvin, you may recall, was manager of security for the WTC just before 911.

So, here's the question for historians:

Would a man who would steal elections, lie about policy,
and authorize torture and war crimes,

And break international and national laws, willfully,

Also have approved the WTC conspiracy plan, or not?

A tidbit for denunciators of the Bush legacy:

Is there any evil such a bully as Bush would not do?

That is the question historians must answer,

Because somewhat decent journalists like David Brooks

Would rather have Tea in the Afternoon with Mussolini Bush,

Thinking it grand to delude himself as one of the insiders,

When, in fact, Brooks is simply, unscrupulously used -

And is too nice of a guy to imagine that anyone would deceive him.

So, historians will have to deal with the froth,

All that stuff faked as news and all who faked to be newsmen -

History will have to measure what is left of what is right,

After the most evil administration in our history leaves office,

Assuming, of course, that they intend to abide by the law for once, on
January 20, 2009 -

But that is yet-to-be, an unknown.
