[Newspoetry] bemoaning a McCain

Once.  A poem lies there.
 
Once.
 
Once I believed in John McCain.
 
A poem lies there.
 
It was a belief too small.
 
I could have considered voting, seriously, for him.
 
Not now.
 
Now ever again, I'm afraid,
 
I'm afraid of the things he has done, of what he has said.
 
He only has his integrity going for him.
 
His commercials, his position statements have erased his integrity.
 
He has become a reflection of Bush, an image of evil,
consumed by ambition, by unlimited ego,
without humility, and thus without honesty or honor.
 
How sad.
 
I could have voted for him, but he took away that chance.
