Headlines escaping notice.
 
The surge is working, therefore the surge was a gamble worth taking?
 
By that logic, a false one - any gamble that pays off was worth taking -
Even if some other guy always wins the lottery, it is right for millions to
bet billions -
Because someone always wins a lottery (100% chance of that)
and it could only have been either you or him (50% logic),
then it right to gamble on highly improbable events.
 
Besides that, the stability of Iraq is not settled, not by a long shot,
even if a small swatch of Al Qaeda has been cleared -
A gardener understands this:
There is no victory over the weeds -
Leave a garden alone for awhile
And it will become as if you had never been there.
 
The future of Iraq?  It never changes.
 
Still life.  Dead Poetry Societies write obituaries in the face of death.
