McCain Vows to Out (Name) More Conservatives as soon as he finds them

Reporting for McClatchy Newspapers, MS writes: "John McCain sought to
burnish his conservative credentials Tuesday with a broadside against 'the
common and systematic abuse of our federal government by the people we
entrust with presidential power' and a promise of 'better executives' in the
mold of X Y and Z, that famous affair.
 
Leaders of evangelical churches were thrilled with McCain's speech.  One of
them said, "We are tired of Presidents like Bush who show neither
presidential restraint nor presidential humility.  The Constitution was not
designed to define the apparatus of a dictatorship, which it has become,
increasingly, over the last 60 years, but especially under Bush and Cheney."
 
Asked directly if he favored overturning the Cheney Doctrine, McCain
answered unequivocally, forthrightly, with that characteristic truthfulness
that has lately been so missing from his public speeches.  McCain said,
"Absolutely!  The Cheney Doctine is so unconstitutional that he ought to be
impeached, even now at this late moment in his second term."
 
However, McCain declines to comment further on impeachment activities,
referring to the necessity for a Senator to wait until a trial commences and
evidence is officially heard, before passing verdict.  McCain could not
refrain from getting one last barb in.  "Cheney is the main reason that
America has been so misled over these last few years, because Bush basically
abdicated all official duties years ago, finding it tiresome to have to
attend to such duties."
